Can I have my taxes deposited into an account in someone else’s name?

Although there are no restrictions from the IRS forbidding you to deposit your taxes in someone else's account, it is not recommended. Most banks have fraud-prevention measures that will not allow direct deposits into an account with a different name. If your bank has these measures in place, they would reject the direct deposit. Although the IRS will eventually re-process the refund, it will take much longer than if you got a check or deposited it in an account bearing your name.
