Can I pay more than the amount shown on the 2016 Form 1040-ES payment voucher?

After making 2 estimated tax payments for 2016, I had some unexpected taxable income that will increase my tax liability. Can I simply increase - for example double - my estimated tax payments?

Yes.  Just cross out the amount and send in any amount you want.  They are not expecting  the 1040ES payments.  So since they are optional to pay you can send in any amount.

Or you can just fill out a new blank 3rd quarter sllip.  Here are the 1040ES instructions and blank forms (where to mail is on page 4)
