I have to pay taxes this year.  Can I pay with a personal check from my checking account instead of my credit card?

Yes of course you can.  Make sure your check includes your Social Security number--write it on the "memo" line if you need to.  Include the printed 1040V voucher.

And when you mail it, use a mailing service that will track it, like certified mail or UPS so you will know it was received.  The IRS is not opening its mail right now.  As long as your check's envelope is postmarked by the filing deadline you will be fine, but you can have peace of mind knowing the check was received if you can track and know it got there.

If you have federal tax due you can pay by mailing your payment with the 1040V voucher, having the payment taken out of a designated bank account, or you can pay directly on the IRS website.
