Question

Can I refile my 2023 taxes without having to buy Turbotax again? I already purchased it for that year but I need to refile due to a mess up by the IRS.

I never received my refund as of today 1/29/25 from when I submitted it March of last year. I called the IRS today and they said I need to resubmit it via E-file. I already paid for the TurboTax software last year and I don't want to have to buy it again to resubmit it. It's already completed. I just need to push the submit button.

No.    E-filing is permanently closed for 2023 returns.   You will need to print the return, sign and date it in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
