Can I reopen the old 2021 tax year TurboTax file using a new version and see the questions/my answers

Hi,

As long as I saved last year’s (for year 2021) TurboTax file, can I open it in the new 2023 TurboTax software and be able to see what the questions were and what I entered as an answer on the old form?

No, you cannot open a 2021 tax return in the current software. To open a .tax file you need to have the same year software. If you saved your return as a pdf, you can open it in Adobe Reader.

When you start your 2022 tax return, you can transfer your 2021 information into your 2022 tax return. It will transfer your 2021 information to your 2022 to either add or change information.
