Question

Can I still claim my Son if he made just over the $5050 gross amount even though he is currently unemployed? He has no income and has lived with me for 8 months.

I am currently providing 100% of his support. Just because he grossed slightly over $5050 I can't get a tax break? Most of his wages earned were earned prior to moving back home.

If he made more than $5,050 in 2024 and was 18 on 31 December 2024, he cannot be your dependent.

Exemptions were suspended, so claiming a dependent does not have that benefit for tax year 2024.
