I have been able to file my adult son on my tax returns every year and now this year they rejecting my taxes because he is on my return as my dependent, why is that?

What is the entire exact reject message that you got, including the code?

I'm sure your tax return is not being rejected because you selected "son" as the relationship. Most likely what happened is that either someone else has filed a tax return claiming your son as a dependent, or he filed his own tax return and did not say that someone could claim him as a dependent. We might be able to tell you more if you post the complete reject message.
