Can my parent claim me as a dependent without me knowing? I haven't recieved my stimulus check and I wonder if it is because someone claimed me as a dependent. And if there is a way to find out other

yes they can....did you ask them? 

 

but that really isn't the issue.

 

the issue that you have to answer on YOUR tax return is whether someone CAN claim you.  Whether that someone else does so or not - the IRS doesn't care. 

 

you CAN BE claimed by someone else, and are not eligible for the stimulus (and your tax return should reflect this) if that someone else passes these 4 tests

 

1. The person either (a) must be related to you or (b) must live with you all year as a member of your household.
2. The person's gross taxable income for the year must be less than $4,200 in 2019.
3. You must provide more than half of the person's total support for the year

4. The person must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. resident alien, U.S. national, or a resident of Canada or Mexico..

 

can you parents pass these 4 tests when they think about you?  if yes, you are not eligible for the stimulus, even if they don't claim you.

 

if any ONE test fails, you are independent and are eligible for the stimulus - they CAN NOT claim you.

goto irs.gov and click "Get my Payment"  .  enter your info to get your status.
