TurboTax isn't set up to process credit card payments for state returns as most states require you to make the payment using their systems and some have limited credit card payment options.  You would select pay tax by check and then go to your state's website to pay your taxes by credit card using the amount due shown on your forms.

If you want to let me know what state you are in, I can provide you with a link to the credit card payment option for your state or you can probably easily find it using an internet search.

Though a lot of states allow you to pay your taxes with direct debit, not all states offer this.

When you are about to pay for your state taxes, TurboTax will let you know what tax payment options are available to you for your particular state.

If you do not see the option to pay with your card, you can go to your State Department of Revenue's website to pay online.

Here is a link to contact all the State Dept of Revenue:

You MUST use the EXACT address on the payment form that you used on your tax return. For instance, if your address is "Main Street" on the return, you must spell out "Street" rather than use "St." or "ST" on the credit card information. Weird, but this works.

Turbo Tax could possibly recommend using "pay by check" as the appropriate choice for credit card payment? Just Saying! I'm here to tell you that under NO circumstances should you select debit if you've used this option with Turbo Tax in the past as my info was automatically transmitted by Turbo Tax and even though I paid NY a full week ahead on their website with credit card I was double billed for $2456. After many hours of calls I was informed that after some bureaucrat finally performed a bit of work at their job, I should get a refund check in the mail in about a month
