Question

Can someone tell me how to fix rejected code IND-116-01? I don't know how to fix it. Has anyone else had this problem, and how did you fix it?

IND-116-01 relates to the Child Tax Credit when your dependent is 17 years or older. Check the information you entered for each dependent. Make sure the name, Social Security number, date of birth, and relationship you entered are correct.

If the info is correct and you feel this rejection was an error, contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) at 800-772-1213 to verify that their records are accurate. If SSA records need to be corrected, it can take up to four weeks for the IRS to receive this info. Please wait four weeks and then refile your return.

If it keeps being rejected, or if you don't want to wait four weeks to file it again electronically, you can print and mail it.

If you owe taxes this year, then you should file for an extension by midnight.
