Can't amend previous year's return

I submitted my 2023 return with turbotax desktop. I need to amend it, so I open the 2023 desktop app and choose to amend and go through the steps. When everything is updated and I try to e-file, I get an error saying:

Your Transmission Didn't Go Through

TurboTax was unable to send your return to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center, for the following reason:

Transmission failed: the intuit filing electronic center is close for 2023 personal income tax filing season. October 31 2024 was the last day to file your returns electronically.

I'm confused, because everywhere I read says you should be able to e-file the 2 previous tax years. Is there a way to e-file using turbotax? For example, it says NY state I have to e-file but the software won't let me.

A 2023 tax return or a 2023 amended tax return can only be printed and mailed using TurboTax, it cannot be e-filed.

FYI I was able to get my 2023 amended efiled to state but wouldn't to federal after federal rejection came back to correct on desktop version. Now I can't get my correct desktop version file (.file2023) to integrate back into the TT system. Frustrating.

Yes, you can transfer your 2023 Amended Return into your TurboTax Desktop program for 2024. Try renaming the Amended File to Amended.tax2023 and using BROWSE to point to that file on your computer.
