If your 2019 return was rejected then it was never filed at all unless you mailed it in.  So the IRS does not have a 2019 AGI in the system for you.   Use zero instead.   If zero will not let you e-file 2020 then you have to print, sign and mail 2020.

And....if your 2019 return was rejected did you follow up and mail it?   You can still do so.. E-filing is closed for 2019 returns but it is not too late to mail your 2019 return to get your refund.

Use the recovery tool to find your return:

You have to access your own account and/or  print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Did your 2019 return get rejected last year?  Did you ever file it?  If you filed 2019 late or it was rejected then enter 0 for the AGI to efile 2020 now.

You need your 2019 AGI to efile 2020. The AGI is on 2019 1040 line 8b. If you filed a Joint return you use the same AGI for each spouse.

If you didn't file 2019 or filed it later in the year then try entering 0 for the AGI. If that doesn't work you will have to print and mail your return.
