I have 4 items in box 14 on W-2 from the City of New York.

TurboTax requires to you to enter them and select a category for each of the items from the dropdown.

This is the list (item name is bold italic, below is the list of potential categories for this item, the one I picked is bold and starts with the "***"):

IRC 414H - pension plan

  • ***New York IRC 414(h) Subject to NY Tax
  • New York IRC 414(h) NY Tax exempt

Why: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/opa/taxes/tax-freque[product key removed]ions.page#9

IRC 125 - Health Insurance Premium

  • ***New York IRC 125/Sec 18 Subject to NY Tax
  • New York IRC 125/Sec 18 NY Tax exempt

Why: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/opa/taxes/tax-freque[product key removed]ions.page#9

IRC 132 - Commuter Benefits

  • ***Other deductible state or local tax
  • Other (not classified)

Why: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/opa/taxes/tax-freque[product key removed]ions.page#9

FRINGE

  • Other deductible state or local tax
  • ***Other (not classified)

Can someone confirm I got this right? I am relatively positive about first 3, not really sure about FRINGE - this is some sort of fringe benefits from the union.

Box 14 information is informational from the employer just explaining items elsewhere on your W2.  Entries in box 14 do not affect your tax return calculations.  It appears you have located the reasons for the first 3 and yes, "other (not classified)" works for "Fringe".

@DMarkM1 : thanks for clarifying.

I am new to this community. Do "Employee Tax Expert" and "Expert" badge mean that you work for TurboTax?
