anyone else having a problem downloading 1099 from charles Schwab ?

    Turbo Tax added the (stupid) new step - messing up the connection....

    Mine went through on my 5th attempt same day.  I hope I don't have to repeat it for 1099int and 1099div etc.

    Feb 19, 2022: Unable to download my Schwab 1099s - appears issue with Schwab (?) extra security measures. After logging into Intuit and entering account login on Schwab page I get error message:  "Login is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later or call customer support." Recurring attempt over last 24 + hrs produces same error message.

     

    Anybody has info to assist?

    I can't even get past the Bank Login screen. It is completely blank except for those two words at the top.

    I'm having the same issue....called Charles Schwab and finally Got  to a person who suggested I change browser from Chrome to Safari....I have a MacBook.....anyway I did and it still didn't work....I think that extra step by Charles Schwab is the issue.....any suggestions welcome

    Just got a call from Intuit (TurboTax) senior tech who says this is known problem with some institutions including Schwab. She said 1009 imports will not be able to be imported until 1st week in March, which is confusing in that I was successful in importing from one other institution.

     

    My assessment is the extra security measure (encrypted download) for 2021 tax year is the issue. Not sure if this is an Institution (e.g., Schwab) issue or a TurboTax issue or a hand-shaking protocol issue between the them.

     

    Obviously, this is a big frustration...and I am not so certain it will get resolved by early March...but "Hope springs eternal". It seems we have no choice, but to wait and see...ugghhh!!

    PS...I do not think the browser question is pertinent. As far as I know TurboTax does not call up a browser for the download...there is no way within TurboTax to select one browser or another...this concern is likely a red-herring!

     

    Also, as an FYI for other readers: my Schwab accounts are enabled for 3rd party access...so this is not the problem.

     I am getting the message "Login is temporarily unavailable". The fact that I get the same message when I enter an invalid username combined with the fact that some people have been able to download after a number a failures leads me to believe that Schwab is simply overloaded.

     

    It's not a login failure - it's not even reaching the login process.

    Please follow the instructions here if you are having trouble importing your 1099.

    cannot import into turbo from Schwab. tried multiple times.

    my settings in schwab are ok'd for third party access.

    other big firms import worked 

    either Schwab is over loaded (I'll try later at midnight)

    or turbotax is not setting up the new window to log in to Schwab

    Yes, I had problems too.  I kept trying and it finally went through and asked me for my phone code.

    I don't know if this will be helpful for folks, but i finally had success after encountering 2 kinds of issues.  

     

    Issue 1:  Initially, TurboTax kept trying to open the window for logging into Schwab, but would only show a complete blank window.  I noticed that if I changed my resolution while it was open or sometimes simply move the window a little, it would display the expected username and password; however the screen was not able to be used.  it was completely locked up so i couldn't type into the field.  I actually tried working through phone support, but they gave up and couldn't help.  So, thinking maybe it had to do with the graphics of my laptop, i installed Turbotax on a second laptop and tried again.  I didn't have the blank window, but I did run into the next issue:

     

    Issue 2: After keying my Schwab credentials into the login window, the response back was that login was temporarily unavailable.  I tried it repeatedly but kept getting the same error.  Finally, i put in a fake user ID and password to see if i got a different error, and i did, stating that the credentials were bad.  So i went back to trying my real credentials one more time, and this time immediately after the bad credentials, it actually prompted me to pick the accounts I wanted to import, and it continued on and actually imported them.  I'm not sure if this was random luck or if somehow having one bad password attempt allowed it to behave differently.  

     

    Good luck!  This was too hard this year.

    I still have not been able to download my information.  One thing I HAD NOT done was close TurboTax (I use the download version, not the online version) and open again to actually get any updates.  I have now the March 2, 2022 update and things seemed to have gotten worse, not better.  One thing has changed.  The software did not require me to login into my INTUIT account first like it was doing before as a first step.  It takes me directly to the screen with the Schwab login.  Before I would enter my login ID and password and if it was right, I would take me to the consent page where one has to click in one box at the end.  Then, after hitting return, it would show me the "login unavailable at this time".  Previously, if I had made a mistake in userid or password, it would not take me to the screen.  Currently, after entering the credentials, it gives me the "login unavailable at this time" message.  There is change in what the software is doing but not productive change to allow me to access my data.

     

    I tried changing the screen resolution and that did not work either.  I work with two monitors and disconnected one in the hopes maybe had something to do with it to no avail.

    I tried everything listed above to no avail.  It literally took about 50 tries to get connected to Schwab.  I FINALLY connected and downloaded my 1099's.  Have patience and try connecting later at night or early in the morning.  It's clearly a problem that needs to be resolved either by Schwab or Intuit, or both.

    Issue connecting to Schwab still there. Yo Turbotax, when will this be fixed so I can download my 1099? If you are going to continue to have these issues, perhaps you should consider an alternative method, like a download next year.

    3/09/22 still not able to import Charles Schwab 1099 data. If it is on their end seems like it would be easy to send out a notice about the problem.

    Hi.  none of the 3 TurboTax "help people" could solve this problem over the past week and it still doesn't work.  Is there an estimated date that this will work in TT2021?
