Charles Schwab tax forms not importing in TurboTax

Charles Schwab released their tax forms and I also have 3rd party enabled for TurboTax on their site.

But when I try to import Charles Schwab forms Turbo Tax Premier (desktop -mac) shows this message below in the screen "Sign on to Charles Schwab & Co., Inc"  before even prompting me to enter my login info. There's nothing wrong with internet connection and I am able to import other forms. Please let me know what I may be missing. Thank you.

"This import was unsuccessful.

We recommend you check your internet connection and try again. If we still can't get your info, don't worry. We'll help you enter it manually so you can keep working on your taxes."

i had the same problem earlier today. i went to schwab.com, changed my schwab online password, then logged back in to schwab to be sure i saw my 1099 forms were available, then exited turbotax, fired turbotax back up, and started the process to import from them again.  it worked after that. good luck.

Entering hundreds of Schedule D transactions is not a work around. The function is there to import them and it should work.

It is not resolved because I just tried it.  This is a known problem and I would like this to be corrected. I spent money to buy turbo maybe you should refund me.

I'm having the same issue.  So frustrating to know that Intuit lobbies against tax filing reform so that they can force us to use their buggy, expensive software.

Just talked with Charles Schwab (6:30pm PT 2/22/22).   They said they are aware of the problem and they are working with Turbo Tax now to resolve it.   They will email me on the update.

I use MacBook pro with MAC version of turbo tax downloaded from Amazon.  I have no problem download 1099 from Fidelity.  But for Schwab, TT directs me to log in to Turbo tax and then opened up a Schwab log-in page.  But I could not log in from there.  It said "Login is temporarily unavailable..."   But I can log in from a web site.   I already allowed third party access in the Schwab account.  And tried changing password and reboot etc.  But no avail.   Hope they will resolve this soon.

I was able to log onto Schwab today and download/import all the information, without having to change my Schwab log-on credentials.  I did this on my Mac so I'm hoping that others have similar success and that this issue is resolved completely.

Pro Tip to TT: Start working on this issue now to prevent it from reoccurring in the 2022 version.

I am also having the same problem. I can not import my tax documents from Schwab.  I tried the pw change work around, but it still did not work (i.e. could not log in to Schwab). I am on Windows.

    Pleas fix as advertised.

    Try this:

Step 1: Log in to schwab.com with your browser. Do not autofill with a password manager. Copy paste your login and password from wherever you have them stored or just type them in if your password manager is a post-it.

If Step 1 gets you into the site then you can be sure the problem is not login and password. If you cannot log in that way then fix your login and password.

    Step 2: Close TurboTax.

    Step 3: Re-start TurboTax

Step 4: Go to the download area and start the process. It may ask you to log in the intuit.com to make sure you are authenticated.

Step 5: Login to schwab.com from TurboTax

Step 6: Select what accounts you want to download data from.

    That should do it.

Changed my Schwab password.  Still same problem.

This is what worked for me:

Step 1: Log in to schwab.com with your browser. Do not autofill with a password manager. Copy paste your login and password from wherever you have them stored or just type them in if you don't have them stored anywhere.

I too tried today, and am not having any success.  Using a Windows version.  I'm sure my login credentials are fine, and restarting TT over (and over and over) helped.  Deep sigh.

Today is 03/05. I tried the suggested solution, but it won't work now. It looks like the bug is restored. Any other suggestions?

I logged into TurboTax received the same failure messages. Seconds later I logged into Schwab without a problem. Tried TurboTax again no luck. Where is the software update for Turbotax? How about some real support instead of "badges"?!?!

I believe the problems are at Schwab, not TurboTax .

    March 6, 2022

This is a TT issue.  After trying all the above recommendations, I just went in and put in a non existent user ID and password for my Schwab login, and it came back as not valid.  Then I put in my correct user ID and password and it worked.  If you have used TT before, I have a feeling it has a glitch in the system when it has you log into intuit that doesn't allow it to work as it should.  However, by putting in a non existent user ID and password, this seems to clear it out and let you log in as you should.

    I hope this helps.

I tried this trick of changing password, logging out and re-opening Turbo Tax with no results.  However, since it was a joint account, I still had another account, which I was able to access. (Important that you have Schwab set up to allow third party access.)

However, I could not import the tax information -- the import started and then failed.

Now, if TurboTax could import the xml from Schwab via a file, this would be a good workaround -- however, TurboTax doesn't have that option -- a simple option for them to provide, but not available in the current release of the product.
