Question

"Check This Entry" is stuck in loop when asking for Date Acquired field in 1099-B.

When asked to review errors on federal return, I'm prompted with a "Check This Entry" page that asks me to fill in the Date Acquired field for the sale of an asset on the 1099-B form (the entry is the last of many on the 1099). After entering and selecting "Continue", the same page populates for the same asset transaction again asking to fill in the Date Acquired field. Viewing the specific line item shows that the field is filled in and deleting the transaction results in the same error except it prompts for the field for the next to last transaction in the series reported on the broker's 1099-B.

I am unable to fix problem. It keeps going back to same entry whenever I enter date acquired. Program useless to me now.

I have the same issue still and it's Mar 24th... I have one transaction for subscription rights. Basis and proceeds are zero.
The review tool is complaining about the acquired date, which a) is already correctly imported and shows up for that line, and b) I can't input the date.
Hoping for that fix end of March.

Another one having the same issue. I'm tempted to just do the one page deal.

I can't get past this loop either. Won't let me file. Now what?

I've been trying for well over a month. I can't find a way to change the error.

Either they can't fix it, or they won't fix it. Several hours spent trying to fix this and many more searching the forums for an answer.

I'm getting a refund on Premier. Absolutely garbage.

Same! Fix this Turbotax!!!!

Instead of trying to fix it through the "Check this Entry" go back to the screen where you entered the 1099-B.   Double-check the transaction.   You can do one of two things or try one and if it does not work, try the next.

First, re-enter the acquisition date.   If you have an actual date in the box, try using "various" instead.   You can use "various" for the acquisition date.

If this does not correct the problem, then go back into the entry and delete the entry for this transaction.  Then go back through and re-enter the transaction.

Hopefully, one of these two workarounds works to fix the loop that you are in.

Check entry asks for confirmation. All info is correct. Reverts to same question over and over. Will not allow filing.

I'm having a problem too. In Doing the Federal Review, The Capital Asset Sales Worksheet pops up and says "Check This Entry" I complete the information, but it take me to several pink boxes in the worksheet, which are actually investment expenses, but they want to know the cost basis. There are 8 entries around $1.58 ish each. How can I bypass this information. Can I delete the entries or skip the worksheet entirely? Taking too much time.

And I tried deleting the form and it's still there. I get the questions during the Federal Review Section on the Capital Asset Sales Worksheet. Even rebooted. Still there. Apparently it did not get deleted. How can I bypass this? I want to be done with these taxes, this is holding me up for too long!

I'm having this problem too. I've even tried to delete the Capital Asset Worksheet so I could move on and it won't delete it. There are several small transactions that had N/A for Date Acquired and says Basis is NOT provided to IRS. These are actually expenses. I've tried to delete them from the worksheet and it won't let me. I can't skip "error" message, it won't let me move on.

So when I go to do a Federal Review it just gets stuck right at that point and I cannot review any other entries. It says there are 31 to check and I can't get past those mentioned above.

Please advise.

Fix Error on Turbo Tax doesn't fix error. "Form 1099-B Worksheet  provide asset hold period Short Loss Indicator for specified account.  The accounts have multiple trades that involve both long and short term gains.  I don't know which to provide and the fix option doesn't work or fix the error.  How can I proceed?

It’s 2025 now.   The problem STILL isn’t resolved.
