Question

Checking state return, this comes up "CT-1040WH (1): Wages, etc. must be entered." I have several W2s so how do I know which one they want?

Seriously the page I'm seeing has no information about WHICH wages must be entered here.

The first thing to look for is an empty W-2. It is possible (actually, it's easy) to accidentally create an empty W-2. Do a Search (upper right) for w-2 and click on the jump-to link (Mac users must look for W-2 in the Topics List).

This should show your table of W-2s. Open them one by one looking for an empty one (in which case delete it) or one in which the Connecticut wages, tips, etc. field (box 16) is empty but box 17 has state tax withheld in it.

Note that if box 17 is blank, then boxes 15 and 16 should also be blank.
