My son was born in 2018 the hospital made a mistake on his birth certificate we were unable to get his social Security card I have to file taxes but was not able to add him because he had no social security number but now I have his social security number I went and did Amendment but want to know how do I start getting child tax credit and is there back pay for the time the pandemic started to now that I can get since I did not have his social then but I have it now

You can claim the credit on your amended return.

Open your return.
Click on Federal tab under Tax Home.
Click on the Edit/Add button next to Advance payments, Child and Other Dependent Tax Credits (under Your tax breaks).
Answer the interview questions.
Answer No to the question Did you receive any advance Child Tax Credit payments from the IRS in 2021? and continue answering the interview question.
