Can i claim my grandchildren that completly live with me on my tax return? And would they be qualifying children or qualifying relatives? No one else will be claiming them and they have lived with me all year. I was told that i could only recieve $500 per grandchild, but that doesnt seem right. Can someone please clarify .

That depend on the age.   A qualifying child must be (a) under age 19 at the end of 2018, (b) under age 24 at the end of 2019 and a full-time student* for any part of 5 months of 2019.

If they meet those requirements be sure that you choose "Other person" and grandchild from the menu and "NO" they did not support themselves.

A qualifying relative can be any age, but have other requirements.

Then delete the dependent and re-enter and read each question carefully.
