College Student Tax

My son is full time college student.

Last year he earned $16K in internship. He paid 1/2 of annual cost -rent etc.

Can I still claim him as dependent and he file his taxes independently?

Any guidance will be appreciated.

    You can claim him if he did not provide more than half of his total support. If you can claim him he must check the box saying that someone else can claim him. You might find this support worksheet helpful.
