College tuition

I pay my children's college tuition.

1. Do I claim that on my taxes or do they?

2. Is there any impact if I paid for it from their 529? I send the money to my credit card account since I pay for it with the credit card.

3. Does it matter if the school is in Scotland rather than the US? The US recognizes it for financial aid.

Hello iguanaroar,

Thanks for joining us today!

You will claim the Education Credit (college tuition) for your dependents, even if they paid it.   If you paid with 529, it may not qualify for Education Credit.  Turbo Tax screens will walk you through all this questions.  Yes, even if you pay with credit card, it will qualify for the education credit.  Yes, it matters what school it is, it has to be eligible Educational Institution.
