Colorado Early Childhood Educator Income Tax Credit

I am using TurboTax Home and Business 2023 with the State of Colorado downloaded.

My wife qualifies for the Colorado Early Childhood Educator Income Tax Credit, but I do not see how to enter information for that credit anywhere in the Colorado tax return steps.

Please tell me how to enter in the information for it, or when you expect the Colorado tax steps to be updated to include it.

Thank you!

The website you linked to says that the max AGI for married filing jointly is $150k.

In Turbo Tax, on the Federal Review step, it shows my taxable income is less than that. Is the dollar amount shown as "Your Taxable Income" not the same as AGI? If it isn't, where in Turbo Tax can I see my AGI?

If it is the same, then it appears that the program is incorrectly preventing me from entering my information for the Colorado Early Childhood Educator Income Tax Credit.

No, Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is not the same as taxable income, it is usually higher.

If you have your 1040 return for 2023, look on Line 11 for your AGI.

To enter your Colorado Early Childhood Educator Income Tax Credit information in TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Open TurboTax Desktop
  2. Select  STATE TAXES in the banner
  3. Select  Colorado
  4. Work through the state screens until you get to the Take a look at Colorado credits and taxes screen
  5. Under Personal, home, and family credits, select Start to the right of Early Childhood Educator Credit
  6. Select  Yes on the Enter Your Early Childhood Educator Credit screen
  7. Enter any relevant information on the following screens

I can get to step 4, but there is no Early Childhood Educator Credit option anywhere on that screen.

Your list does not include the credit because the program believes you are not entitled to the credit. My guess would be your AGI is too high. Please see the requirements here.
