Correct tax return

Hi,

I just transmitted my Fed and State taxes last night and then this morning realized that I forgot to include a significant self-employed business expense.  Since we are still before the 4/18 deadline, can I just refile my 1040 with the new expense, or do I have to file an amended return (1040X) at a later time?

You cannot just send in the expenses on a new 1040.   Wait for the return to be fully processed and then amend to include the expenses on your Schedule C.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-return/amend-change-correct-return-a...
