I have a question regarding the cost basis of ESPP and RSU stocks that were vested before company stock got spun off.

Situation:

In 2018, I have some ESPP and RSU stocks vested for company A.

In 2019, company A stock spun off and the portfolio now has both company A stock (same quantity) and some company B stock.

I have already sold all vested company A stock in previous years. This year, I sold company B stock that were acquired during the spun off.

Question:
What should be the cost basis for the company B stock?

It depends.  You may need to check with the broker to find out what the stock split was at the time of the spinoff. You may also wish to check some of the websites for historical prices for Company B.
