Could someone explain why I would owe taxes on a simple W2?

I've only worked at this one place. I've never owed taxes before. I don't understand it all. Why I would owe any taxes. Why I'm not getting any Money back According to the numbers on my W2 I owe and I just can't understand it

There are several reasons why you may owe taxes with just one W-2. The most common reason is you didn’t have your employer withhold enough taxes through payroll. Other reasons include:

Fewer deductions
Fewer Credits
Change in your filing status
Change in your income

The simplest explanation would be that you did not have enough federal and/or state tax withheld from your paychecks during the year, so now you owe. We cannot see your tax return or your W-2. Without any personal information, if you tell us your filing status (single, married,...etc ...any dependent children?) and what is in box 1 and box 2 of your W-2 we can start there to see.

one possible reason is irregular paychecks. Periods where you get lower than average pay may result in under-withholding. The reverse is true in periods where you get higher than average pay. Because of graduated income tax rates the difference in withholding may not cancel out. Also, bonuses may have a flat withholding % not matching your effective tax rate.
