I need to import data from the 2022 tax return which was prepared by a CPA.

What kind of data formats are supported, simple .CSV files?

Or do CPA firms use software that is capable of exporting in TXF or some other formats that TurboTax (desktop Mac version) can import?

There is essentially no way to transfer information from a 2022 tax return prepared by a CPA into your 2023 tax return in TurboTax. The only formats that 2023 TurboTax can transfer information from are a .tax2022 TurboTax data file or certain PDFs. No professional tax software produces a .tax2022 file. Transferring from a PDF, if it works at all, will only transfer minimal information, generally just your personal information such as name and address, and perhaps your AGI.

So you really have to just start your 2023 tax return from scratch, without transferring any information from 2022. When information from your 2022 tax return is needed, enter it manually.

Yup, the CPA said the software they use is made by a company called CCH and they seem to have proprietary formats of their own.

    Such a drag.
