I am 79 with impaired mobility. This past year I purchased a stair lift for going up and down stairs; had a walk in shower installed with a shower chair and subscribed to Life Alert in case I fall.  My Doctor agrees that these are necessary for me to stay independent. Can I deduct these?

Yes, you can deduct these expenses as Medical expenses.
