Question

DELETE PLEASE - USER ERROR 2024 Tax Computation Worksheet Difference - The amount calculated in the software is different than the amount I calculate on the IRS worksheet.

Since the Tax Computation Worksheet is "hidden" I can't see where there is a difference in the calculation. I'm in the MFJ Over $383,900 but not over $487,450 section on this return.

If you are using TurboTax online you will have to purchase the return prior to being able to viewing the worksheets.  Once you have purchased the return you can follow these steps to view:

  1. Choose the FILE section
  2. Under the question, "you are asked if you want to 'view/print/save' your return.  Choose Yes
  3. Select the option, "PDF of all your forms and worksheets saved to your desktop for review"

I have the desktop software version, so I’ve already paid for the product.

On the qualified dividends in capital gain tax worksheet, the amount online 22 is different than what I calculate when I use the IRS‘s worksheet. I take line 5 from the qualified dividends and capital gain tax worksheet to use on the IRS worksheet and it returns a different result. The TurboTax desktop software does not let you see the tax computation worksheet. It’s considered an internal calculation. I think a software developer with TurboTax needs to look at this
