I had someone on TurboTax file for me and it shows Detroit non resident taxes on my paperwork but when I called the treasury they said they had no record of taxes for Detroit being filed like they have nothing for me..how do I know for sure my Detroit return was actually filed?

The first page of your tax return printouts is a page titled Filing Instructions.   That will show what and how your returns were filed.

Were your federal and MI state returns both accepted yet?    If they were accepted, note the amounts of each refund; you will need the amount to check the status at the IRS and city of Detroit.

To check on your federal refund, check Where's My Refund?

To check your Detroit city taxes, click here.

Which city tax returns can I do in the TurboTax state program?

Both were accepted. I owe for federal but expect money from the state refund. State just shows it’s under review so not sure if that has anything to do with the Detroit city refund

If both of your returns show e-filed and accepted, then you can use DCN/MeF Submission IDs for the filing to have the IRS and the state track them. You would need to call TurboTax customer support to obtain those.

As an alternative, you can print and mail your tax returns. But make sure that you write on the top of the first page: COPY. ORIGINAL E-FILED [DATE], DCN ########.
