Difficulty updating software

Hi,

I'm using the desktop version of TurboTax Premier 2020 and just today I starting having a problem when trying to update the software: "Failed to install update.  Microsoft Installer error: 1648".  I have read a number of posts on this error and it looks like it can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling TurboTax.  Unfortunately, I sent the CD to a family member and no longer have it.

I got through all of the preparation to file my federal and state returns and even paid the fee for filing my state return, and then the program tells me I can't file without updating the software first, which it won't let me do.  I also paid my Indiana state return money owed today online at the state government's website, anticipating that I would be e-filing my return today.

Can I switch to the online version of TurboTax and file there without having to pay the state e-filing fee again?  I guess I could have my family member send the CD back to me, but I was hoping to file today.

Thank you.

If you can get the license code, you should still be able to install this without the CD.  For further details, please see the Help Article here, which mentions how to install the program without a CD/Drive.
