1099-DIV shows qualified and ordinary dividends, but the wages and income shows exempt dividends and ordinary dividends.  The amount of ordinary dividends does not match qualified dividends.  What is exempt dividends?

Were do you see that?  Qualified dividends are shown on the 1040 form line 3a and ordinary dividends on line 3b.  Exempt *interest* is on line 2a.

And FYI - on the 1099Div the Qualified Dividends in box 1b is the amount of box 1a that is qualified.  So box 1b can be 100% of 1a or less.   So Ordinary and Qualified Div do not have to match and you don't add them together.
