Do I claim the third stimulus payment as I was a dependent last year?

This is my first year filing. My mother received the stimulus for me.

You will claim the credit if you are no longer a dependent.

Report that you did not get a payment although your mother did.

It may seem like payment for you is being made twice, but that is how the law was written.
