Just ss plus 900.00 part time employment

It depends if your gross income falls under the filing threshold. Please see Do I need to file a federal return this year? for the filing thresholds.

Your Social Security Income won't be taxable if half of your Social Security Income plus the $900 is less than $25,000. If that is the case then you will be under the filing threshold and won't need to file. If half of your Social Security Income plus the $900 is more than $25,000 then some of your Social Security will be taxable.

If the $900 was anything other than W2 income then you DO have to file because you will owe some self employment tax (the equivalent of Social Security and Medicare) on it.
