You probably don't need to file if your refund is zero, but you should complete this worksheet provided by the IRS to make sure you aren't required to file a federal tax return:  Do I need to file a tax return

Your age doesn't matter. If you are 65 or older you need to file if you have income over Single $15,700 or Joint $30,700 not counting Social Security. Or if you have a 1099NEC or self employment income or have health insurance from the MarketPlace (ACA, Obamacare)
