Do I need to add spaces for my employers SSN (his ssn is his EIN) when I file my taxes?

He's retired and I'm a private caregiver. His family gave me a W2 form using his SSN. Do I add spaces with his SSN in place of a EIN or do I just add his SSN without spaces?

He could not use a SS# to issue a W-2 ... they had to get an EIN.   The employer should correct their mistake and issue a corrected W-2 form to you.   https://www.irs.gov/instructions/iw2w3

However, if you choose to use the one you have simply enter the number into the system ... it will be reported in the EIN format and you cannot efile the return.   You will have to mail in the return to attach a copy of the incorrect W-2 form.
