Question

Do I need to file a Form 8615 if I received unemployment and am under age 24, but I graduated in May so I was not a full-time student at the end of 2020?

I received well over the $2,200 for unearned income through unemployment due to COVID. But I graduated from college in May 2020. As far as I understand, the condition for Form 8615 is if I'm age 19-23 and was a full-time student at the end of 2020. Do I still need to fill out the 8615 if I wasn't a student at the end of the year?

If you were a full-time college for five months in 2020 (doesn't even have to be consecutive months), you are considered a student for tax purposes.

Did you have earned income that is more than half of the your support?  If so, you would not need to file Form 8615.
