No, you will not be taxed on your benefit unless your total income is over a certain amount.

If you have no other income, there is no tax.

 

If you’re a Single filer, you may need to include up to 50% of your SSDI benefits in your taxable income 

  • if your income falls between $25,000 and $34,000 
  • (or between $32,000 and $44,000 if Married Filing Jointly) and 
  • up to 85% of your benefits if your income exceeds $34,000 (or $44,000 if Married Filing Jointly).
