Question

Do I need to file taxes if my only taxable income last year was gambling winnings of $3200.00. State and local were withheld. Is there a minimum income exemption?

Seems if I file, IRS will owe me more than the taxable amount of the winnings due to mortgage interest I would file..

I would recommend starting the free TurboTax return and just enter the 1099-G to see if you owe state and federal taxes.  Most likely you would get a refund of the withholding if you file.
