Does anyone know if I can open my 2018 turbotax file with Turbotax 2017 to see how tax change hit me? I don't want to re-enter everything into a bogus 2017 return. Thx!

No, unfortunately there is no way to open your 2018 TurboTax file with 2017 software.

No that is not doable. You would have to do a new fake return.

but remember with a fake return, many items can be entered in total and a lot of data can be omitted

And you can enter directly on the forms.
