Solved

Does anyone know what to do if your former employer did not include a state employers ID number on the W2 and I have reached out dozens of times to no avail.

Missing "state employer ID number" on my W2 how can I bypass this
Best answer by cjjthomas52

In box 15 it has the state but NO ID # and boxes 16 & 17 have the dollar amounts in them.

Yes I am from the state of VA and we do pay taxes.  The company I received the W2 from brought out my old company and gave us severance packages and this is the W2 I received.

What state?   If boxes 15, 16, and 17 are blank you do not need a state ID.    Are  you in one of the states with no state income tax?

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming

Enter the federal EIN in the state EIN box.
