Does the IRS sends the same billing notice to each person to a couple filing jointly?

We filed jointly and by error we underpaid. Each of us (husband and wife) received the same billing notice  with the same billing number to pay the amount owed.  Did IRS split the bill or informed each of us    that we pay the amount on the bill?

When a joint tax return is filed the IRS will send a billing notice to both of you.  Just send one payment as is shown on the billing notice.  The IRS did NOT split the bill.
