I purchased the Turbotax Premier CD.  I need to do three different taxes for three different family members.  I wanted to be able to take advantage of this CD since it said I could download it to five different computers.  How do I do each different person's taxes?  Do I reinstall on three different computers?  Do I create three different usernames and passwords?  Please advise.

It's much simpler than that. You do it all on one computer. You don't use a username or password with the CD software. When you finish one tax return, click on the File menu and select New Tax Return. Then click the blue button that says "Start a New Return." Or, if you exit TurboTax, when you run it again, instead of clicking on an existing tax return, click that same blue button that says "Start a New Return."

You don't have to finish one tax return before you start another. You can click File > New Tax Return at any point. Be sure to save the tax return that you are looking at. The CD software does not automatically save.

The Desktop CD/Download program can do unlimited returns and efile 5 for free.  You do get 1 free state PROGRAM download to prepare unlimited state returns in that state.  Then each state return (including the first one) is 24.99 to efile or you can print and mail state for free.

    IMPORTANT!

Be sure to save your return first when you exit or close or if you start a new return. You should always save your return as both the PDF file and tax data file ending in .tax2019, etc. when you are done.

On the Windows Turbo Tax program you have to manually save. It doesn't automatically save although it should ask if you want to save when you start a new return or exit the program.

Also if your Child's name (or another return) has the same name or initial as you or your spouse it might overwrite your return. You have to save each return with different names so you can tell them apart. Like if your name is John and your son is also named John it will save them with the same name. So go up to FILE - SAVE AS and give it a unique name.
