[duplicate]My grandmother wrote me a one time $10,000 check as a gift. Do I need to declare it as income or a gift?

You don't need to include it on your tax return. Gifts are not reported as income to the recipient.  However, your Grand mother should file a Form 709 Gift Tax Return for information purposes.

Grandma is not required to file a 709 for a gift under $14,000.  OP says the gift was $10,000.
