e-file rejected - e-payment to IRS already submitted

My e-return was rejected; they say taxpayer name &/or SSN don't match their records, but they were actually correct.  I will have to print and mail with a check.   However, I already arranged for e-payment direct from my bank.  Will the payment be rejected by them too?

Yes, the payment will also not go through.  When the return is rejected, none of the data transmits to the IRS.  If you want to pay electronically instead of with a paper check, you can do that here: IRS Payments
