E-Filing - Expired License & No State ID

My husbands license is expired and he has no state ID - I entered in his license number with the expiration from 2013 and the software accepted it, however I'm afraid it may get kicked back somehow and I don't want to waste unnecessary time.  Does anyone have experience with this?  I know they're using it to verify who we are when e-filing, but will they have a problem with this method if the form of ID is not current and has been expired for so long?
