Trying to efile for a trust in Florida.  There's an extension till May 1st, but the program says I need to enter a filing date between Jan 1st and April 15th.  Won't let me efile, says I can paper file.  What's up with that?

You don't need to file an extension through May 1st - it is automatic.   If you live in a qualified disaster area and you file between 04/15/25 and 05/01/25, the IRS will not impose a penalty.

If you are trying to file an extension to Oct 15, Form 4868 has to be mailed and postmarked by 05/1/25 - it can't be e-filed.   See Further Tax Filing Extensions Available

Form 4868 and instructions included

You can e-file a 2024 personal tax return until Oct 15, 2025.
