Efile Federal Tax Return with expired Driver license

Our son is filing his tax return for the first time (He was a dependent on ours' tax file).

He would like to e-file his federal tax to get his refund quicker, however, his driver license expired a week ago.  Will his tax be rejected by IRS due to his expired DL?

The IRS does not require a driver's license number to e-file only the prior year AGI.  Since this is his first time filing, the IRS says he can e-file using 0 as his prior year AGI if he is over 16 as of 12/31/2020.  Make sure he does not use your account. That will override any return already started or if he does his first and then you do yours in the same account his return will be permanently gone. he can have his own account using your e-mail address.

if he has a state filing it may require a valid (unexpired) DL #. every state is a little different.
