Question

EFILE PROCESSING vs EFILE SUMITTED TO THE IRS

EFILE FORMS were sent on JAN 31 2024.

after that, EFILE PROCESSING showed under status.

Then, there was an email from Intuit that " forms were electronically submitted to the IRS on Feb 02, 2024".

Strangely, this email came on Feb 1, 2024, 7:59 PM.

My question is:

Can I safely assume that EFILING was done on JAN 31 2024?

Or, wat EFILING actually done on FEB 2 2024?

(If it was done on FEB 2 2024, why were there delay?)

Tax season officially opened January 31, 2024. The IRS has a huge bottle neck when they opened, so it is possible it was not received until Feb 1 or 2.

Taxpayers can use “Where's My Refund?” to check the status of their 2023 income tax refund within 24 hours of e-filing. Refund information is normally available after four weeks for taxpayers that filed a paper return. Information on “Where’s My Refund?” will update overnight so there is no need to check the tool more than once a day.

Please answer my question.

My question was: Is it safe to assume I efiled on January 31 2024?

Last year, I asked a similar question (read below).

1099-NEC due 1/31/2022

1099-NEC was transmitted 1/31/2022 but turbo tax email says it was transmitted 2/2/2022. today is 2/1/2022. how is that possible?

The IRS efile system got weird and backed up this year.  Document all of your submission information as well as the processing and acceptance information.  It seems unlikely that the service will issue letters for late submissions at this point but unlikely doesn't mean zero chance.
