Employer HSA Contribution by Mistake on 12/27/19 Returned on 1/3/20
I had a family HDHP with an HSA in 2018, but switched to a non-HDHP for 2019. My employer had a records mix-up and made an HSA contribution of $153.85 by mistake to my HSA on 12/27/19. They returned the exact amount on 1/3/20. On my 2019 W2, it shows $153.85 in box 12a-d. I plugged this amount into TurboTax Premier 2019, but the final "Smart Check" step keeps asking me to complete a 8889-T and select my coverage HDHP coverage in 2019. Since I didn't have a HDHP in 2019 (and since the mistaken contribution was returned), can I just enter $0 for 2019?
