I was given a credit reporting correction of $625 from a bank i had a home loan from .  In the letter is stated I would get a 1099 MISC to report this. I never got one. So my question is can I report this on my turbo tax without actually having the tax document itself?  If so can someone tell me the steps to enter it? Thank you in advance.

Since you did not receive the Form 1099-MISC, you will enter it as 'other taxable income' where it will be reported on Form 1040 Schedule 1 line 8z.  It will then be included as part of Form 1040 line 8.

Use these steps:

  • Go to the Federal > Income section
  • Scroll down to the bottom where you see Less Common Income
  • Click Start beside the last item Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  • Scroll down to the bottom and click Start beside  Other Reportable Income
  • Type a short description for the payment and then enter the amount
